Survey reflection

1.   What I know after the survey

2.   What I think about the findings of the survey

3.   What I learnt from the survey

4.   What I intend to do with the survey results.

There are people who are unaware of Earth's conditions.
The findings of the survey is clear and understood
We all play a part in global warming.
Post it on the  grace blog to let people know

Survey topic

We have finally decided what we wanted to survey for the survey. We will be doing a survey on how many people sleep in an air-conditioned environment and an environment with a fan. We will be heading out this week to gather the information. Thats all bye :)

Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy is a form of splitting or fusing atoms from uranium. During this process, large amount of energy is created. However, there are some troubles.

There might be an explosion…

If you come into contact with too much radiation, you might suffer from multiple diseases.

However, gold or lead might be able block out most of the radiation.

Wind Energy

                                Wind Turbines

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form, such as electricity using wind turbines. Although wind produces only about 1% of world-wide electricity use, it is growing rapidly, increasing more than fivefold globally between 2000 and 2007. In several countries it has achieved relatively high levels of penetration, accounting for approximately 19% of electricity production in Denmark, 9% in Spain and Portugal, and 6% in Germany and the Republic of Ireland in 2007. Wind energy has historically been used directly to propel sailing ships or converted into mechanical energy for pumping water or grinding grain, but the principal application of wind power today is the generation of electricity.

Hydroelectric Energy

                     Hydroelectric Dam

A hydroelectric dam basically generates electricity by turning a turbine with running water.

1)   The potential energy stored in the water is converted into kinetic energy when it flow through the penstock

2)   The force of the kinetic energy from the flowing water then turns the turbine.

3)   The water goes into the outflow river after turning the turbine.

4)   The turbine then turn, generating electricity which goes through the generator.

5)   Then it passes through the powerlines to our home!

Disadvatanges of the hydroelectric plants

          1) It makes use of large amount of space and destroy forests the home of some animals

         2) It emits some carbon dioxide gases into the air although it does not make use of fossil fuels as some gases are leaked during manufacturing

3)Unfortunately the water in the world is decreasing due to global warming and the melting of the icebergs

Solar Energy

Solar energy is a type of light energy and heat from the sun, that affects the Earth’s climate and weather.

Solar cells

Solar cells convert sunlight directly into electricity.  When sunlight is absorbed by the semi-conducting materials of the solar cells, the electrons absorb the photons and become liberated from their atoms and flow through the material to produce electricity.  This process of converting light to electricity is called the photovoltaic effect.
